Heart of Darkness and Other Stories

By Joseph Conrad
(Book)

NEILL says:

A simply incredible piece of writing, possessed of devastatingly powerful insights into human nature, civilisation and morality; executed in prose that is thrilling in its grace and poetry. And two other stories, which are shit.

I don't know, can prose be "thrilling in it's poetry"? That seems somewhat idiotic.

There is such a thing as poetic prose. Which is good. And prosaic poetry. Which isn't. And I've got a degree in English Literature and I teach it an' that, but I thought Heart of Darkness was, like, really boring. And that.
